FLOODING INFORMATION

FLOODING

If you live in an area that’s prone to flooding, the time to prepare is now! Make sure water is directed away from homes, sheds, and other buildings. Make sure down spouts are extended from your buildings.

The city has some storm water inlets. To assist, make sure your curb and gutter (where applicable) are free from debris, ice, and snow. PLEASE take the time to clean out in front of storm drain inlets near your property

You are responsible to protect your property. Check your insurance coverage. Is your property adequately insured for flood or water damage?

If you live next to a waterway such as a canal, stream or culvert, take to the time to clear debris to allow maximum flow.

The city will maintain the waterways flowing through public right-of-ways or city property. The city cannot travel across private property to cleanout waterways. Property owners are responsible for their property near waterways.

In case of high flows city crews will monitor city owned bridges, culverts, and grates to maintain the flow and remove debris as needed.
